All caving trips require personal caving gear,

Some trips may require additional gear, please read description carefully:

 

Sturdy boots

Caving clothes

3 independent sources of light/ batteries

Helmet

Knee Pads (if you desire)

Gloves

 

 

Some trips have a size cap. Please Read Carefully, and sign up as soon as possible!

 

TRIPS

 

     August 17th, Fall Creek Falls :

Please Choose A or B on registration form.

 

A. Lost Creek Cave

                  Lost Creek Cave is a horizontal,  easy to moderately

               strenuous  undeveloped cave near Sparta, Tennessee.

               Mainly self  guided walking   with uneven ground, more

               difficult crawling  or climbing also possible. 

               

               

B. Camp’s Gulf Cave

                Camp’s Gulf Cave is a horizontal, highly strenuous undeveloped

                  Cave near Sparta, Tennessee. 

                Caving in this cave involves climbing through tight chimneys

                and extremely steep breakdown piles; and squeezing through 6

                inch spaces. Must be in good physical condition.

                TRIP LIMIT:  30 CAVERS

 

     August 19th,

A. Gap Cave and Road Rally

              

                   The Karst Road Rally will tour interesting and beautiful karst sites

                     in eastern Kentucky and northern Tennessee on the morning of

                     August 19th.  Each group will ride in an air-conditioned 15

                   passenger van with a knowledgeable local guide.

 

                    In the afternoon, this group tours Gap Cave. 

                  Gap Cave is a developed cave managed by the National Park Service.

                  It is a moderately strenuous trip with Paved cement walkways,

                   and some up/ down inclined walking.

                  

               

B. Gap Cave Through Trip

               

                       The Gap Cave Through Trip is a 9 hour extremely TECHNICAL,

                       VERTICAL caving trip.  You MUST have your own complete SRT

                       System and the ability to cross rebelays, pass knots, rappel and

                     ascend 100 meters.  Portions of the cave are extremely wet. There

                     will be sections of crawling, free climbing, and squeezing through

                     small spaces. DO  NOT REGISTER FOR THIS TRIP IF YOU ARE

                      NOT A  COMPETENT VERTICAL CAVER IN GOOD PHYSICAL

                      SHAPE.  DO NOT REGISTER FOR THIS TRIP IF IT WILL BE

                       YOUR FIRST LONG TRIP, OR YOUR FIRST TIME ON ROPE!!!!!

                      

                      TRIP LIMIT:  18 Competent CAVERS

 

                         Additional Gear Necessary:

 

                              SRT ascending/ rappelling system (Frog, Ropewalker, etc.)

                              Cave Suit/ heavy duty caving clothes

                              Cave pack with cave food for lunch

                              Waste management equipment (Pack EVERYTHING out)

                              Safety/ Personal First Aid Gear
